First off, the weather is gross again, and that makes me sad. Anywho... FHE recap!
So FHE was at our apartment this week, which was a change. I love how D. Spencer knocked on the door, and when I answered he was like, "oh, so this is where you live...". Yes. Apartment 17. Nobody ever comes over unless they home or visit teach someone in the apartment. It's elusive. Or more like, exclusive...
The plan was iPod Idol. I will admit that when Eric told me that was what we were doing, I almost told him to do it somewhere else just in case I decided not to participate. We started off the evening with ice cream (always a plus!). Afterwards Eric stood up and asked who wanted to go first. Thank Heavens for Rebecca, right? A chant of "Jess-i-ca! Jess-i-ca!" soon started up. However, I resisted and said that I'd like to watch a few rounds first. That's when James was like, "a few rounds?!?!", like he knew I meant a few turns for everyone, and not just a few people going before me.
Craig stepped up to the plate, and sang his own rendition of "Reflection" from Mulan. Again, James had the best commentary: "I've never heard this song before...". Then Eric went, claiming that he needed a female to sing with him, and once it was decided that no one would be singing with him, he proceeded to sing the best version of "A Whole New World". It was only the best because of his Jasmine voice. Words do not do it justice. Up next was Kim, I believe, who sang "Under the Sea", but only knew the words for the chorus, so just danced like a crab most of the time. It was great.
James went next, doing Kanye's "All Fall Down". It was terrific on so many different levels. A of all, he mentioned to me that he liked hip hop, but I didn't know that he meant that he knew all the words to a Kanye West song. B of all, he knew every word except for one sentence that he mumbled through! C of all, I didn't know that a white Mormon boy could ever rap half as well as Kanye. D of all, there were some great rapper dance moves. It. Was. Terrific.
Blythe was the finale, singing "Hakuna Matata" worse than anything I ever could have imagined. It was probably only terrible because she really did sound like a warthog, as Rebecca explained. After Blythe most everybody left, and we were down to me, D. Spencer, Eric, Allen, James, and Blythe. D. Spencer attacked first, singing Josh Groban in Spanish. He's got some talent. Even when his voice was cracking he was doing great. Then James left, and Allen sang something... and then Eric sang again, and I don't even remember what he sang, but I do remember that D. Spencer tried to get him to stand on a chair, which wasn't really working out because Eric was terrified when D. Spencer grabbed his leg while he was blindfolded and tried to get him to move. Roommate lovin'.
Then it came down to me. And I was terrified. I get really awkward about certain things, and having people hear me sing is one of them. Especially if I don't really know them. So I ended up singing "Sexy Back", blindfolded and scared to death. Pretty much, if I could have been in a fetal position, I would have been. As it was I pretty much hugged myself while I screamed for my mother. Seriously.
And thus ended another round of FHE. I'll admit, I'm quite sad for the end of the semester. What am I going to do without such an awesome FHE family? :(
Welcome, Minnie!!
