I am so tired. It has been a long summer. Last summer went by so fast. This summer... well, it definitely dragged on. It's funny to think about the differences between then and now. I mean, it was the same job, in the same room, working with the same bosses, and even a couple of the same coworkers, eating the same food... but this summer... I hiked. I dated someone. I made friends with people that I didn't work with. I went to a real ward. I saw a ton of movies. And as the summer comes to a close, I'm not crying. Last summer I was bawling with a month or two left because I was going to miss everybody so much. I really found myself here last summer. This summer it was just another stage of life, or another transition. I mean, I love everybody that I worked with this year, but it was a different kind of love. Last year everyone was my best friend and I couldn't bare to not see them all the time. This year I see them all the time but I don't crave it, and it's probably because we haven't spent as much close time together. I'm just glad that I'm not crying. I'm glad that as I unpack my new apartment I'm not sobbing over mementos. It was a good summer, and I'm quite fond of it, but I'm excited for the new school year. I'm excited to move on and see what life holds for me.
And now, I'd like to relive some of my favorite moments this summer:
Fitting 9 people into Amanda's car after spending time at Wyview.
Geocaching with my little brother.
Playing with August.
Eating so much at Tucano's (for free!) and then lying in the back of the van screaming that I was going to throw up.
Going to the hot springs. The best part of this was the man rubbing mud in my hair.
David asking me to go on a date with him. To temple square.
Scaling the mountain at Rock Canyon, getting stuck and terrified, and singing "I Know that my Redeemer Lives". Also telling David that if I died, to tell my mom that I had kissed a boy so that she wouldn't think my life had been so pathetic.
Getting sick. I still think that it was the Swine Flu, and having to wear that mask at the Health Center was terrific.
Hiking Stewart Falls. It was gorgeous.
Hiking Rock Canyon with Marie and Camille. I love Rock Canyon.
The CA Girls sleepover in David John! Wrestling with Chelsey, prank calling the boys, the rainstorm, eating tons of yummy food, watching Taylor Swift music videos! What more could you ask for?
Making Dave watch Pollyanna.
Working Stadium of Fire. Especially when I flooded the 3100 floor.
My first visit to Costco. It was amazing.
David's mission call. I'm not going to lie, it took everything I had in me not to cry.
Seeing more of Levi's nipples then I ever wanted to see.
Meteor shower with Rochelle and Levi. It was lovely.
Pretending to be a nature photographer with David.
Arrested Development in the Tanner. (Cu-cocka, cocka, cocka!).
Telling Levi that if he were from Greek mythology, he'd be Pegasus.
Ashley visiting, writing letters to Ben and Jared, visiting every museum on campus.
Dave telling me that I was beautiful.
Driving to Sandy to see (500) Days of Summer.
Yahtzee Showdown! with Boyd and Hayley.
Spontaneously deciding to see The Time Traveler's Wife at midnight.
Going to the creepy Spanish Fork theater to see the kid statues hanging from the ceiling... I mean, to see My Sister's Keeper.
Driving the Alpine and Nebo loops.
Tickle fights.
Nerts. Nerts, Nerts, and more Nerts.
