FHE

So... someone I know may or may not have been called as the FHE mom for our new FHE group... and as such our apartment ended up being in charge of the opening FHE for the year. Marie, Heather and I argued for a good half hour over who was going to do the lesson as none of us wanted to give it. Heather baked cookies and cleaned, I wrote questions for our getting to know you game, and Marie... uh... had a lot of homework to do.

The guests started to arrive, starting with one of the most awkward girls I have ever met arriving alone. Marie and I sat in the livingroom with her and tried our best to make conversation. What I'm meaning to say here is that it was DIFFICULT!!! It has never been so hard for me to make small talk before! Everything was ironic with her, especially her interesting apparel and her desire to be a fashion designer. I asked which designers she liked and she said that she didn't really pay attention to any of them. What? No Dolce and Gabana? No Chanel or Zac Posen? No Burberry? Okay... She also referenced people like we knew exactly who she was talking about and left me wondering who the heck Breanne was.

The next guest was her roommate, Chelsey. She was nice and outgoing and energetic. She was great at making small talk, and left me wondering how they got along.

Then the boys came. We answered the door to some boy named Spencer, who although is 23 acted like a high school student. Every question we asked him during the getting to know you game he answered about Chelsey. He came in with his roommate, a nice young man named Cory. Cory moved into the apartment today. Seriously an hour before he came to FHE. Why? Because he just got off his mission three days ago. What mission? Oh, the Cleveland, Ohio mission! Who else got off that mission a few days ago? The lovely Ben Sanchez! Marie and I got so excited about it and the three of us spent some time talking about Ben. Cory went around shaking everyone's hand and introducing himself. Still in missionary mode. He knew Ben so well that he even knew that we were from Oxnard without asking. Cory is my new favorite friend at FHE.

And with that the lesson and games started, followed by treats. Should definitely be an interesting semester, eh?
