One Upping

One Upping. I hate one upping. I don't think I even noticed it until the last few months.

Examples of One Upping that I quickly found while writing this post:

Post: Matix's first Sunday at church. Plus he is 2 months old today!
Response: Avalon only got a week, we had to do her baby blessing today while my parents were still here.

Post: Weston skipped a class for the first time in his life today. So proud of him! Haha, I'm such a bad influence.
Response: Wow, that's pretty impressive. I skipped almost all my classes my last semester, and I still got my degree ;)

Post: Is it gay that The Devil Wears Prada inspires me?
Response: Is it weird the thingsthatinspire is my tumblr blog url lol

Post: apparently my sense of humor can come off as me being a huge jerk to those who don't know me well... lame
Response: Happens to me on a regular basis

Post: I thought broken heels only happened in the movies.
Response: Amazingly, broken heels aren’t just a romantic-comedy device…they also happen at Senior Proms. It’s 16 years later and I’m still kind of ticked about it, so I sympathize about your hobbled heels.
Response 2: Imagine being on an island in the middle of Lake George visiting a friend’s campsite and your new sandals strap snap off and having to walk around the campsite with a floppy shoe all day. I feel your pain.

Blake: I first watched this movie when ____.
Me: I first watched this movie on my fifteenth birthday when my mom left my dad. I went with my best friend Sam, who earlier in the day had taken me to buy a Build-a-Bear. When I needed to put an address on its birth certificate I put Sam's because I didn't know where I would be sleeping that night.

Epic fail.
