People Watching

Marie is the best people watcher that I have ever encountered. It is not out of the ordinary to be walking with her and have her whisper "platypus" (meaning beard) or "did you see _____ ?!?!?!" It's one of my favorite things about her and I strive to find more people breaking social norms as she does. One time we were at Macey's (the grocery store) and I spotted one that she did not: a real life African American Cruella de Ville. It's one of my best sightings.

Last night we headed to Barnes and Noble to spend some time studying in a pleasant, literate, intelligent, delicious smelling atmosphere. It's always a good choice. We sit in the cafe, laptop open and dying (no outlets- what the heck?), physics and math homework splayed out, drops of cocoa on the table- and people watch in between bouts of actual productivity.

People of interest:
The man with a normal sized torso and very short legs.
The man sitting alone rolling dice.
The man reading a magazine while listening to music and flailing his hands (sign language? air guitar? Who knows. [Marie: I think there's something wrong with him. No one in their right mind would do that in public]). He also had two of the same beverage on the table as if he were sitting with someone, but he wasn't.

And I know that there were others. But we were only in the cafe for two hours. And we had several good people to watch and be entertained by.
