"But I Like That"

"There will always be a part of me that is dirty and sloppy, but I like that, just like all the other parts of myself."

I was watching "Silver Linings Playbook" tonight (finally) and I was wondering where this weird movie was going to go and not feeling super committed to it.  Until Jennifer Lawrence came into the picture.  She was wonderful.  Part of me did not think that she would have been great enough to earn the Oscar she got this year.  But she was.  Anyway, this is an aside.  Really, it came to this part where she was admitting to Bradley Cooper that she had been a whore, and when he threw it back in her face she said the above quote.  Which I will reiterate here, simply because I can:

"There will always be a part of me that is dirty and sloppy, but I like that, just like all the other parts of myself."

Here is this crazy, crazy girl who fully admits that she has not followed life the way she should have.  But she owns it.  She knows who she is and she likes herself.  And I think that is something to strive for.  To know our full self, to not make excuses, and to like ourselves not only despite our imperfections, but because of our imperfections.
